RALLY REPORT - ST ALBANS SUNDAY 9TH JANUARY 2005

BY FRANK BROWN

What started as a vintage bus feeder service to the annual model railway exhibition in St Albans expanded into a mini running day for 2005.  The routes and vehicles were run by Country Bus Rallies with a 70's theme, still serving the model railway show.  Although not an official A & D trip the committee were out in force actively promoting and recruiting for our own Slough/Windsor event on Sunday 17th April.  Eddie Knorn was surprised to be given his SNB running schedule so far in advance thanks to Peters' meticulous planning.

St Albans garage [SA] is long gone, replaced by luxury apartments, hence buses started and finished in the towns hub St Peters Street, running on a variety of former LCBS routes - S6, 330,341, 391 serving the locale plus Hatfireld.  In use were RF 308, RP 21, RB 51, SNB 312, RMC 1476 and an ex Alder Valley Duple bodied Leopard.  Finally, Metroline were using Blue Triangles red RT 3063 on their 84 route on short workings out to London Colney raising £400 for the Tsunami Appeal in the process!
